Mike Thibault - Chief Instructor

Mike retired from the Military Police and Canadian Armed Forces in October of 2016 after 35 years of completed service.

Mike Started SRP in 2000. He joined Rescue 7 full-time as the Rescue 7 representative for the National Capital Region and Eastern Ontario.

Having spent most of his career in the Military Police as a full-time or part-time educator, Mike continues to instruct law enforcement, medical, and hospital personnel, first responders, and security personnel in a variety of topics, from the use of force to crisis management. Mike has been instructing First Aid for 22 years and has been an instructor trainer for 15 years.

Heidi Thibault - CEO

Heidi has worked with SRP for 15 years, preferring to stay behind the scene. She is our CEO and office manager. 

Heidi started out in retail and quickly learned that the skills SRP taught could help in any situation, whether it be security home or any situation.

Shannon Wellwood Koga

Shannon is a career educator and school development authority. Often hired as an agent of change, Shannon has expertise in Child Protection and Safeguarding, Organizational Improvement, and School Accreditations. Shannon has Child Protection and Safeguarding certification internationally and is FEMA certified for Crisis Management. Shannon has an undergraduate and two Master's degrees in Education and Science and is enrolled at the University of Western Ontario, studying for her Doctorate of Education focusing on Tribal Culture and Communication. For more than 30 years, Shannon has led schools in Asia and currently resides in Hanoi, Vietnam, with her dog and cat; her four grown children live in Japan and Canada.

David - Instructor

David has been an instructor with SRP for 8 years and coordinates both the restraint and baton and dynamic scenario-based training. David holds a Bachelor of Sociology degree from the University of Toronto and has worked in the security industry for more than 10 years. David is a strong believer that knowledge is power and is committed to the life-long learning philosophy. David is also a certified Rape Aggression Defence (R.A.D.) instructor (3 years) as well as a Verbal Judo (Level 1) Instructor (Verbal Judo Canada). David completed the Anger Management Group Facilitation Training from the John Howard Society and is also a “Bring in the Bystander” trainer for proactive sexual assault intervention. David has completed workshops in Violence Threat Risk Assessment (Levels 1 and 2) from the Canadian Center for Threat Assessment and Trauma Response to assess the risk of potential active attackers in academic settings. David has also completed Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED Level 1) and the Mental Health First Aid workshop in dealing with emotionally disturbed persons (EDP). David continues to be a peer mentor at the University of Toronto, helping undergraduates navigate through career fields, and is pursuing studies in the Ontario Graduate Certificate in Forensic Practice.
